Jerome Maxwell

Graduate | Associate Degree in Small Unmanned Aerial Systems
Jerome MaxwellJerome Maxwell spent five years in encrypted submarine communications in the U.S. Navy before enrolling at San Juan College (SJC). He earned his Associate Degree in Small Unmanned Aerial Systems in May 2024 and says, “My experience here truly set the foundation for everything that followed.”
While at SJC, Maxwell interned as a drone surveyor with an oil and gas company. This led to a full-time role, promotion, and leadership experience. He now serves as Civilian Operations Manager for the City of Farmington Police Department.
He credits instructors Brian Seavey and Cy Rauworth for going “above and beyond” to connect coursework to real-world application. He is also grateful for the Veterans Center, where Larry Finch helped him access his benefits—knowledge he now uses to assist fellow veterans.
Maxwell encourages students to take advantage of SJC’s affordability and transfer opportunities, which helped him earn a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is currently pursuing an MBA in project management through Louisiana State University.
Looking ahead, Maxwell plans to continue serving the Farmington community and pursue advancement toward the city manager’s office.
